Oh they acomin’ ahright, they ahways lookin’ fo’ me in these woods. Scourin’ and pokin’ and try’na sniff me out. They bring they hounds sometime too. Get them pokin’n sniffin’ too. I been at this fo’ most my life. My daddy show how he done it and he daddy shown him. Don’t know who showed him, my grandaddy that is. I done me some ponderin’ on that.
You ask me about how I make it? Oh, no…Sorry, why. Righ’, righ’. Well, I guess because I like to, ha-ha, that’d be number one. I drink it myself plenty. Not goin’ make anything fo’ anyone else if I don’t like it meownself. I get in moods, always done, all me life. Sad moods, happy moods, mean moods. That anger come down on me somethin’ fierce sometimes and I get wantin’ to fight and do harm. When I seen I can’t control that force I went to me daddy, when he still alive mind you. I still go’n talk wit’him, but…Well, not in the same way if you see my meanin’. But I done ask him if there were a way to get that demon outa me. He say he only know two way. One was with the Good Book, the other with he likker. I try the Book, weren’t fo’ me. I try my daddy likker, and that work real good.
I make some fo’ gettin’ mad. Mays-be you wants that fire in you belly. You got some deed that need doin’ and you need a bit o’a kick to get yous goin’, I make a likker fo’ that. Or you want some fo’ lovin’, or fo’ cryin’. Eh? Oh, well, I can’ say fo’ sures. People wantin’ all kinds of feelin’. Mays-bes some that…Well I don’ know. I jus’ be guessin’, I don’t ask why someone wants a thing or they ain't.
Mm, what’ll I do when theys find me? Can’t say. I know they will. One’a these days. Ah, well, I’ll thinka somethin’ I guess. I gots ideas. Till then I’ma keep making my likker and talkin’a nice folks like you that wanna hear my story.
